Cutaway model of a 25x193R (Rimmed shellcase) anti tank cartridge for the Sa-L34 L/72 anti tank gun. 3000 of these guns were accepted for service in the French army in 1934. It was used with succes against light german tanks and was able to pierce a 40 mm steel plate at a 30 degree angle at 400 mtrs. (437 yards). For heavier tanks it was hardly suitable, exept at very close ranges. The Germans captured many of these guns after their victory over France and took them in service as the: Pak 112 (f). Weight of the projectile is 320 grams, muzzle velocity is 918 mtrs/sec. An interesting detail of the projectile: there is no driving band, what can be concidered strange for a projectile of this size. The pojectile was made af a brass jacket, with a hardened carbon steel core inside. The remaining void in the nose was filled with lead. The black tipped nose of the projectile means armour piercing. A green tipped projectile was also available; the armour piercing tracer. I do not have any picture of the gun, maybe one of the other members can help.
