View Full Version : amateur 18lb shrapnel cutaway
not as nice as what PZGR40 does but this was my first attempt at a cutaway projectile last year. Its a WW1 18lb Shrapnel round. This was made from recovered relic parts
With good result, but why didn't you you cut through to the base. It would make the chamber housing the black powder bag visable, one important part in explaining the functioning of the shell.

Ps: Why put amateur in your posting head? It looks good. The first ones I made looked far worse :?
Thanks for pointing out the charge section ,i am going to re do the internals anyway at a later date as i have now got a nice brass flash tube and plate (or whatever its called). The ones in the photo are heavily pitted, also i have a spare fuze to cut also for it.The main problem is time as im usually only home for one full day a week .Ill crack on with it very soon.........allan

This would have been my question too. Good work, and thanks a lot for posting it here!
