Hello, this is my first post on this forum, and i'm looking for more information on the shell depicted below. I'm wondering where it comes from, and for which gun it was used. I wonder if the top is orignal, or if it has been cut to look like this for some reason....

Any information would be appreciated,
TIA, Jan :)
I believe this is fom a 6 pdr British WW1 Tank gun.The neck has been cut to make it decorative (trenchart) CF= Cordite filled K=Kynoch(manufacturer)
It is actually the common 6pdr Hotchkiss as it was used mainly in regular guns and also in Tanks.

X Thanks for the info /correction. i found this reference photograph http://www.quarry.nildram.co.uk/tankammo.html
Follow the page to the "British WW1/2 tank Gun Ammunition section"
Do you know if the tank guns were just artillery pieces remounted for tank use
I think so.
Here the image you had in mind:

Good you pointed it out, I did not find a proper image when I briefly looked for one.

Cool, thanks for the info. Shame it has been cut :( It would be nicer if it was still in it's original state.

You can pick these up for around EUR 5.00 to 7.50. Prices in the US are much higher (have a look at Ebay and type in "trench art").
