- My picture from below [it will be posted soon] shows the headstamp for a Russian made 37X252R round used by the 37mm Mod.1939 AA gun. Clockwise from the 9 o'clock position, the impressed headstamp markings are: "15D" [shell case lot number], "40" [two digit date for the year of the brass shell case manufacture 1940] and "147K" [shell case maker's code, "Tula Arsenal"]. The percussion primer screw with 3-wrench holes has a diameter of 15.9mm [0.625-in] and it is stamped with these markings: "KB-2" [type of primer "KV-2"], "530" [maker's code] and "1-D" [primer lot number]. Note the annular groove in the shell case head to help secure the round to the clip. --- NOTE: [A] Later manufactured Russian primer screws for the 37X252R rounds are marked "KB-2Y" ["KV-2U" primers]. [B] My photo and my comments are printed on the page 34 of the last IAA Jornal [issue #452] as part of the "Additions to Russian Ammunition Factory Codes". Orita 11/21/06
