I have a german fuze. It is quite heavy and seems to be made of brass. No identifying marks other than the delay interval designations. It seems to fit an 8.8cm but I am hoping someone can help me identfy it and what it was used for.
Thanks,
Rich

It looks much like a AZ1. The white marking is strange but there was a packing label I once asked ID for which mentioned an "AZ1 weiß gespritzt" (sprayed white). This might be such one even the white marking is possibly not sprayed. But I have still no idea what it really means and why your example has no other markings.
Great item though.

This came with an original paint naval ( possibly uboat) projectile. I have never seen one ( a fuze ) like it before. It is quite heavy and seeems to be made of solid machined brass and complete even with the original wooden dowel. Having never seen one of these before and having no date stamp anywhere on the fuze that I can see I was wondering how old it might be and how it was used...

Can you post an image of the complete cartridge?
