Hi Everybody!
I found in summer a case from steel. I do not know what type. Can anybody help me? It was in a WWII battlefield.
Measurements (approx.): diameter 26,5 mm
Total lenght: 33,5 mm
Wide of the rim: 1,5 mm
Wide of the groove: 3 mm
Primer diameter: 7,5 mm
Thanx, GA.
Hi G.A.
Really poor condition. But it's the cartridge of the german "Wurfkörper 361 LP", fired from the signal-pistol, Cal 4. LP means "Leuchtpistole"

Thank you the info. Signalgun -ammo with groove? Hmm... it sounds interesting. I do not heard anything about this. Have you got a drawing from this?

Hallo
It's the cartridge of the second type Wurfkörper 361 also designated as Wurfkörper 361 Verbessert. I have seen pictures and drawings but they are in poor condition.

Hi Guardian Angel,
the case has a groove, because it was loadet from the front into the pistol and to secure it in the firing position it had a spring type steel ring in that groove. It could be pressed together and that steel ring opened again after it reached the rim recess in the bore of the flare pistol.
There are some very good pictures of the different types of this kind of ammo for the flare pistol in the Waffen Revue.

Thank you everybody! I found drawings about this in my photocopied papers. I couldn't have recognised this ammunition part if you didn't help me. Thanx Salamon, Rudolf and T34!
