View Full Version : 16" HC restoration progress picture
I got such good help from several board members when I asked questions a few months ago about restoring this US Navy 16" 50cal HC MK14 MOD 0 shell, I wanted to share a picture of my progress. I still need a proper fuze for it - that is just a steel nose plug and I still have some polishing on the copper driving band to finish, but this is what it looks like so far. I'd love to stencil it and I know what is supposed to go on each line but not sure just how to get decent stencils. Anyway - hope you enjoy it.

Very nice.
That's a very nice piece, how much does it weigh?
Regards DJH
Thanks guys.
Without powder and fuzes, it weighs 1740 lbs.
Bursting charge is about 154 lbs plus fuzes, gaskets, etc bring a total loaded shell to 1900 lbs.
The way you are looking at it, I would guess about 1745 lbs.
Dj was just asking cause he wants to calculate how much the shipping would cost, he wants to make a cutaway out of it... :D
