I have a solid shot in 37mm calibre of French style dated 1 1938 and stamped SAEER in an oval which has puzzled me for some time. Were the French using this as a service round in the 94mm long case or was it for sub cal ibre training. I have never seen a 94mm case dated any where near 1938, the only 37mm case of this date I have is the 202R tube cannon case. Can anyone explain the reason for the shot and date?

This shell was still used in WW2 in some french tanks, e.g. the Renault R35. In WW2 the Germans also made 37x94 rounds but only for sub calibre training.

Same as Russia, the US, Denmark and probably many others.
