The S.pr.

The identification of this cartridge is a 120° headstamp and a black annulus. It was loaded by the G.P.K. (Gewehr-Prüfungskommission.). The first known headstamp is 2 17 S67 and the latest 4 18 S67. Around this time they did not made special cases anymore. Now for identification the bullet was blacked.
It was used to attack observation balloons and aircraft. The German pilot must come within 400 meters range before firing.

Hi,

The first mention of this cartridge in France was in April 1916 when a Fokker aircraft shot down in Hoeville. In his machine gun belt were cartridges, who seeming to be explosive.
They found the L.E. (Luft-Einschiess Patrone). They were made by the Gewehr-Prüfungskommission.
By firing the round a delay ignites a explosive charge after a predetermined time. In flight 300-400 meter with a visible flash. It was replaced in service by the SmK L’spur.

Hi,

An other explosive bullet from WW1 came from the Alder factory in Vienna.
It was a complicated bullet to make, and I hope the drawing show how it worked.

The ”F” Patrone.
It came late 1918 to the front, and it is to be used only in combat with enemy aircraft.
The ”F” bullet is a phosphorous projectile with a hardened core. The bullet was blacked like the S-pr but the primer had a red annulus.
